A 35 Year Old, recently engaged Shane Gibson died today at 5:45 AM as a result of blood clotting complications in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Formerly of KoRn (in the absence of HEAD, then Munky after). His main band up until now has been stOrk who has released just two albums up until Gibson’s, sadly, very recent demise. Before KoRn he was playing guitars on Davis’ solo tours, he worked as a roadie for KISS then went on to do music for movies. He’s also a founding member of SchwarZenatoR, played guitars on Jason C. Miller of Godhead’s solo album, ‘Last To Go Home’ and recorded the single “Free” with band Echoes the Fall in 2010.
His band is quoted on The Official stOrk Facebook Fan Page as saying,
“It is with deepest sadness and regret that we must confirm that stOrk founding member and lead guitarist Shane Paul Gibson passed away at 5:45 AM on April 15th, 2014 in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama as a result of complications from a blood clotting disorder. He was 35 years old. He was one of the best guitar players the world has ever known and his virtuosity was matched only by his wit and generosity of spirit. He will be missed beyond measure.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those who loved him as much as we did.
