Since the announcement of this game in 2006, Final Fantasy 15 is finally on it’s way and with it comes some crazy shit.
Square Enix seems to have taken a welcome precaution with this title. New to the Final Fantasy franchise, they’ve created switchable combat modes. From Real Time Combat to a wait style which you can change to at any point in the game from the pause menu. Don’t get too comfortable though, wait mode has a time limit so you’ll only be able to think about your plan of attack for so long unlike the PSX’s Final Fantasy Tactics.
Immersing yourself in this world would seem a bit strange, but when it comes to mind that you can change what you thought was only a Third-Person Action RPG into a First-Person Shooter – it’s pretty damn cool. For me, this has been one of the things I’ve dreamed of ever since I can remember. Embodying the protagonist in a fantasy world filled with all sorts of crazy shit. Looking down a monster bigger than my house knowing that I might be taking my last few breaths. Teleporting from one place to another with just a movement of my finger. Even better, Square said that they will likely release the game with it’s VR counter-part included (mind you the VR won’t be available right away). It’s making my skin red and I’m not even scratching the itch yet!
So how long is the game going to be?, “In terms of clearing the main story, we’re anticipating about 40 to 50 hours of gameplay,” Game director Hajime Tabata said on the Square Enix E3 livestream. “So at the very least, there’ll be 40 hours worth of content to enjoy in the final game.”
Pretty sweet. Oh yeah, there’s more, “With just the extra stuff alone, we’re looking at maybe 100 hours of gameplay,” he said. “So if you count all of that, maybe we’re looking at 200 hours of gameplay… the final version of the game coming out–about 200 hours total.”
They’re looking to release it on September 30th of 2016. With all of that out of the way, the only other thing I can say at the moment is do yourself a favor and run to the nearest Best Buy or Gamestop for a VR trial run if you haven’t already. There will be PS VR Demos held at 300 of either store throughout the country starting Friday June 24th.
